GRAD CareerFestival


Emily Bell              Henderson State University, Arkadelphia,  Arkansas

Emily is a psychology grad completing her second degree in Innovative Media at Henderson State University. She works for the newly emerged department in their Virtual Reality program and is currently launching their online publication. She’s an editor, writer, and layout designer for Forge magazine, and is copy editor of The Oracle newspaper. She hopes to move to Austin, TX by December to procure a career in film editing and documentary journalism while achieving her Master’s in psychology at University of Texas. 

She loves to camp and hike with her wolf-dog, watch Netflix documentaries, film and photograph performers at music festivals for publications and her personal work, and blog about poetry and rant humor.  Through the Grad CareerFestival, Emily hopes to promote long-lasting, beneficial networking between students, grads, and the authors and professionals of the event. 

 “I still have strong connections with people I’ve met through conventions and conferences, from students like me to well-seasoned pros, and they’ve largely contributed to my success today. I want to foster those same connections for those participating in this event, which I believe will be even more successful in its goals than conferences I’ve attended in the past.”

Rasheeda Gerald   University of South Florida, Ruskin, Florida     

Rasheeda Gerald-Slaughter earned her first degree at Hillsborough Community College in Mass Communication which she then furthered at the University of South Florida. She is expected to graduate with a Bachelors of Arts in mass communications with an emphasis in broadcast news. She is eager to use qualities like curiosity, integrity and tenacity to continue her aspiration of becoming a sports reporter. Her ability to research and provide extensive communication skills is exactly what she hopes will help her reach her goal at the grad career festival. She hopes to continue to advance in her mass communication skills while helping students learn how to land jobs after graduation.

Kimberly Chin      University of Florida, Gainsville, Florida

Kimberly Chin acquired an interest in communications at a very young age. She recently graduated the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations and a Graduate Certificate in Social Media. Kimberly is a public relations practitioner with an interest in fashion, sports and entertainment.  

Kimberly believes that communication can shape the future. Her favorite way to reach audiences is with social media because it is always changing and the networking possibilities are endless. She is Hootsuite Platform certified and is an Adobe Certified Associate. When she is not perfecting her craft, you can find her cooking or watching sports.

Peter Yang              Arkansas State University, Jonesboro,  Arkansas

 Peter Yang is a 3rd-year undergraduate student at Arkansas State University. His major is Strategic Communications, double emphasizing in advertising and social media management with a minor in communication studies. With his degree, he plans to improve not just how companies correlate to social media, but how to properly practice it to expand their community and/or clientele into the current technology-based world.    

Peter is an avid outdoorsman. When not occupied, you can find him calmly drifting along the Caddo River or local lakes in search of a variety of game fish, largemouth bass being his desired preference.  His favorite campus activities include being involved with A-State’s Communication and Liberal Arts College, the Student Activities Board, intramural sports, and Greek-Life related events. He currently serves as the Public Relations Chair for the Tau-Zeta chapter of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity.   His goal in participating in the Grad Career Festival is to not only demonstrate his knowledge in proper social media marketing but to also ascertain and indulge in the experience at Talent Marks as a whole. 

Kathy Lei      Rutgers University, New Brunswick, New Jersey  

Kathy Lei is an undergraduate student at Rutgers University, majoring in Information Technology and Informatics, with a minor in Organizational Leadership. She is passionate about technology and the art of design. She is also eager to leverage on the synergy between design and technology to create better experiences. That is why she aspires to be a user experience designer, who will continue to learn the craft of enhancing the interaction between the user and the application being used. Like other designers, Kathy is curious about exploring and creating possibilities through the process of design when addressing problems. Through the Grad CareerFestival, she hopes to make the event memorable and engaging for those who attend and are in need of career guidance.
